Dr. Mullen believes that every child deserves to enter adulthood with a stunning smile and a healthy bite. This is why he guarantees smiles for all of his adolescent patients, meaning that if their teeth become crooked for any reason (even if it’s their fault), he will re-straighten them up until their 19th birthday at no charge. The only cost to the patient/family is for their new retainers after their teeth are realigned.

One of Dr. Mullen’s favorite things to tell families is that their child doesn’t need any treatment yet, and he closely monitors each child’s growth to initiate treatment at the ideal time. Although Dr. Mullen has extensive experience in treating kids in Phase I, his preference whenever possible is to consolidate all their treatment into one comprehensive phase to save the family time and money. Dr. Mullen is also a faculty member at the UCLA Orthodontic Program, where he teaches evidence-based treatment to the residents and guides them in treating orthodontic patients.

Dr. Mullen is skilled in treating a broad variety of cases with clear aligners, ranging from simple alignment issues to complex malocclusions. Some cases are better treated with clear aligners than braces, and Dr. Mullen never wants finances to dissuade patients from getting the treatment that is most ideal for their particular smile, which is why he charges the same amount for clear aligners as he does for braces.

Dr. Mullen offers free consultations that are treated as an opportunity to educate each patient and family in a friendly, no-pressure environment. He loves providing second opinions and does not use same-day or “limited time only” sales gimmicks to push patients or families into starting treatment.

Dr. Mullen is a father of four and has a unique ability to connect with patients of all ages and make them feel comfortable and at ease. His favorite nickname he’s received from his patients is “Mr. Rogers,” who is Dr. Mullen’s role model. And since Dr. Mullen is the sole doctor in the office, you and your family will see him at every visit.
